The Budget

As the days move towards the Democrats taking over Congress, the democrats should make working towards a balanced budget a key part of their agenda. If the Democrats can a least make some ground on balancing the budget, then they could potentially steal some Republican voters who have been alienated by the former Congress and the President’s inability to control spending, and turned a large surplus into a massive deficit. Furthermore Democrats can at least partially remove the image of being the party of tax and spend, by promoting the policies of Reagan and Bush as policies of trillion dollar deficits, while promoting Democratic policies as the policies of surpluses.
