Incumbent Governor Ruth Minner is term limited. The Democratic nomination should be between Lieutenant Governor John Carney and State Treasurer Jack Markell. The Republican nomination will probably go to State Senator Charles Copeland.
The Democrats have held the Governors mansion in Delaware for the past 16 years, but fended off a tough challenge in 04. I predict that Carney will edge out Markell for the Democrat's nomination, and then go on to defeat Copeland by a margin of 3 to 5 points.
